We have now added a Google Translate function to our web site which means it is easier for our Romanian partners to access and contribute to the site and we look forward to seeing more people follow us and maybe get some contributions from our partner centres.

New member of Board of Trustees of Muzika

At its regular Trustees meeting on the 12th November 2011 the Board appointed Peter Goodwin as a Trustee of the Charity. Peter will be helping with web site development, setting up the Muzika archive and helping to plan the Conference on Adult Social Care in Bucharest on the 11/12 May 2012.

Muzika team visit to Bacau

The Muzika team are making the trip to Bacau to speak to our partners about the Centres of Excellence programme. The visit will take place between the 20th and 25th August and we hope to build on the work already done in developing our Centres of Excellence Project

August Visit to Constansa by Sarah Knight and her Team

Constansa Romania. A summer activity between 2-12 August training Romanian professionals, using evidence based good practice, and promoting early intervention in working with children with disabilities.

At the request of our Romanian colleagues a Muzika Team, led by Sarah Knight, with Gemma Whelan working alongside her and Alex Knight supporting, will facilitate activities specifically designed for developing skills and ways to manage behavioural challenges. Great emphasis will be put on team building and joined up working across teams within individual workplaces. We look forward to hearing the teams report on their return and will publish the report of their work.

Duffield Singers’ Carnival Supports Muzika

On the Thursday 23rd July 2011 Duffield Singers’ Carnival will hold a Charity Concert to raise funds in support of Muzika. Starting at 7:30 pm in Eccelesbourne School Hall (Wirkworth Rd Duffield DE56 4GS) tickets can be bought for £5 through Duffield News or on the door. All proceeds will go to Muzika

Professor Peter Totterdill, Chair of Muzika, Presents our Vision for a Centres of Excellence Programme

A team of Muzika volunteers spent a week in Timisoara, Romania, working with the staff at an institution for children with learning and hearing difficulties. The week was a huge success and at the end of the week, Peter Totterdill, Chair of Muzika thanked their hosts and went on to outline the vision that Muzika has to establish a network of Centres of Excellence across Romania, which will act as a beacon for the work and help train and change the culture of staff to help them use the arts in their work with childeren.
